"We are very pleased with the fact that we reached our 50,000th current account in a short time period, which puts us among the fastest growing mobile online banks in the CEE region. We are focused on providing easy-to-use financial services and shifting from traditional banking to innovative customer-oriented mobile solutions,” says Martin Navratil, Chairman of the Executive Board and Managing Director at Telenor Banka.
In global terms, the concept of mobile banking has led to changes in the way customers do their day-to-day banking. These changes are also visible in Serbia, which is reflected in the fact that, since the bank first launched its operation, mobile banking has seen a quarterly growth from 6-12 per cent to 24-31 per cent, according to the statistics of the National Bank of Serbia.
At Telenor Banka, all Serbian citizens can open a multicurrency account that comes with a contactless MasterCard debit card, as well as exchange currency at good rates, send money abroad, or make all kinds of payments. The bank also offers flexible, anytime withdrawable savings in dinars at an interest rate of 7 per cent annually, with monthly accruals of the calculated interest.
Telenor Banka is part of the Telenor Group, one of the largest world mobile operators with more than 192 million customers on 13 markets.
In 2013, Telenor acquired 100% of the shares of KBC Bank, with the aim to offer to Serbian citizens through Telenor Banka modern and innovative mobile and Internet financial services.
Telenor is the largest single investor in Serbia with an initial investment of 1.53 million euros. The first mobile and online bank in the country is oriented towards daily citizens’ transactions, offering them daily banking on the move.
